Wanted a simple project to finish and really had no intention of landing on potholders. Saw the cute pic and figured why not? Made the first one and it was pretty but I wasn’t certain of it’s functionality (granny has lots of holes after all.) Was working on a 2nd one because I needed something simple for a short car ride when husband got excited because he said the 1st one was great and worked really well with the cast iron. Pleasantly surprised so instead of giving away the second one I gave it to him. He also states it passes the test of taking items out of the oven as well. The idea that the last row on only 1 side was HDC caught me off guard but I trusted the process and yes, this turns out to be the secret to the success & usefulness of this potholder. Don’t change that part. Trust the process. You will love it. And it’s so pretty!!!!

I enjoyed this, the end result a nice dense pot holder. I used a single colour from my stash, but I will change it up next time. I found it strange having one side larger than the other, but “trusted the process” and it turned out great. These may end up in Christmas stockings this year

Pattern is very easy to follow - the pictures at the end help a lot! Only one issue.that I found and that is on the last row of the back, it doesn’t remind you that this row is half double crochet- other than that and amazing end product.

I really like how the granny square looks. I used two different yarns and I think my gauge got messed up on the back one. There is an obvious bulge where the two sides don’t fit right.
I think I may use the front pattern in a blanket.

The pattern was easy to follow. It takes a little longer than other potholders and is better if smaller hooks are needed then recommended with the yarn. But overall great to do for someone that wants to try something new.
