I had to go up to a 9mm hook to make gauge on the hat. Once I got the gauge correct, the hat is still WAY too small. I have a 22” head and there’s NO WAY in creation that this hat is going to fit. I’ve frogged it several times in an attempt to resize. And yes I have made sure I’m using the correct crochet stitches for US. I started the hat puffs row with 24 puffs instead of the 23 the pattern asks for, and I will still have to increase every row set in the pattern including the ones that don’t require increase plus add an extra row or two of puffs to make this fit comfortably. I’m worried I’ll run out of yarn for the hat, but if so I may be able to make up for it on the scarf as that doesn’t require fitting. Fortunately the puff pattern is easy to add to, and the hat ribbing doesn’t have a critical count requirement, so I’ll be able to fix it. I’m not a beginner, but a beginner trying to figure out how to make this fit will be frustrated.
