Kaleidoscope Top

Hypnotizing summer top

This beautiful Kaleidoscope Top is not only hypnotizing to look at but also to crochet! It’s made in Rainbow Glitter in a light and a dark color, creating a beautiful interplay of colors. The top can be crocheted in 8 sizes from XS to 4XL, so you can just get started. Now all you need to do is pick your favorite colors.

Have fun making!

I totally love this pattern. I wonder why I never had the idea to spruce up the granny squares with different stitch sizes. So far I have made 2 tops using this pattern and Rainbow cotton 4/8.
Once you wrap your head around the concept, it's easy to do and the squares can be made to any size.
The key for me was to move the raw change from a corner to just around the corner (2nd stitch past the corner) to a straight area. That way, it worked much better.

I am a big fan of ByKaterina models. However, the instructions are not always clear. Boy did it take me several froggings before I could get around this pattern, especially since I used only 1 thread of color-changing yarn. Once I found my way, it was easy and fun to make though, and the spiraling effect was so awesome, that I made 2 tops in different colors.

I absolutely love the finished product. This is my new favorite too. Sizing is spot on. There are a few errors in the written pattern, but the chart is accurate. The yardage is not correct either. I needed 4 balls of each color for size XL. Surely for sizes larger, you will need even more, so order extra.

Had to do a little figuring with pattern as written, I think a newbie would be confused. BUT, I rerwrote for myself and made a terrific top! Love IT!

Pattern is a bit rough. I'm convinced the "Experienced" rating is because it leaves you to figure s*it out on your own

I haven't finished it yet, but want to give some help to those who are struggling. Is this the *correct* way? I have no clue since the pattern doesn't actually tell us, and my ADHD butt gave up on searching for something. it's actually looking pretty good so far.

TURNING AND STARTING A NEW ROUND
-- Work entire round until last stitch before connecting to beginning hdc-- sl st in the first hdc of last round with current color, yo with new color and pull through (this is color change). Turn. VERY LOOSELY sl st about 1/3 of the way into the previous ch4 sp (try to carry previous color along to reduce the float to next row) ch2. Turn again! Work the next 2 hdc(round 2) or 3hdc(all the rest) around the sl st and into the ch4 sp. Continue with row as written.
