Unfortunately this pattern is all over the place. It doesn't always tell you where to stop crocheting for the smaller sizes and at the end of every section keeps telling you to "proceed to joining". For a less than experienced crocheter is would be a nightmare to attempt. It's a shame because it is a very pretty top.
