Amigo Giga is an incredibly soft and airy yarn quality made from HB Acrylic. HB stands for high-bulk and describes a production technique where steam and pressure make the acrylic fibers contract and curl to make them more voluminous. The result is an even lighter and airier acrylic which is pleasant to wear.
It’s both easy and fast to work with Amigo Giga. The yarn has a lot of volume and is wound in large, chunky skeins of 150 g (5.3 oz). Knit with a pair of 9 mm needles (US 13) or a 12 mm hook (US P-15) to see quick results in your work. The chunky yarn is amazing to work with for beginners since the individual stitches are so large that it’s easy to notice and correct mistakes.
Amigo Giga is machine washable and easy to maintain. The thickness of the yarn lends itself to projects like pillows and blankets or things like chunky sweaters, soft hats, and other accessories. It’s also a great yarn to use if you want to avoid animal fibers.
You should also take a look at our other Amigo yarns. We have the yarn in different thicknesses, so you can also use it for projects that need smaller needle/hook sizes. All variants come in many beautiful colors, and the soft acrylic really soaks up the color well during the coloring process, which results in a yarn with a great depth of color that does not wash out.
The yarn is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified (no. 2276-367). Find more information about the certification at: https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/

This is my favorite of the Amigo yarn family so far! It is soft and easy to work with and has great stitch definition. Once worked up it has a light halo effect, so it is somewhat fuzzy. I am using this for my 2022 temperature blanket. I wouldn't use it to make a high-usage item because I suspect it might eventually pill. Some of the colors weren't exactly like the photos, I think because some skeins have more shine than others. For most people this yarn is definitely scarf-able. I simply prefer to wear cotton or bamboo.

I've found that Hobbii acrylics are generally softer and less heavy than standard acrylics, which is nice since the stiches look much smoother instead of slightly rough and working on any size project isn't a hassle to readjust as you turn the work. . That smoothness lends itself wonderfully to this chunky yarn. It is light, plush, and works up very quickly. Nice big stitches and thick result (I use it to crochet) without the weight. Didn't have issues with splitting like I do with the usual craft store brand acrylics.

I got a TON of this yarn to make my sister a blanket. I generally don't like acrylic yarn for enviromental reasons, but the amount I needed made natural yarns not an option. It works up really nicely, and I don't have any issue with splitting or anything. I also loved the amount of color options- I was looking for very specific colors to match my sister's uni colors, which were for some reason super hard to find, even in acrylic.

I used this yarn to teach my friends how to crochet, and it was perfect for that. The chunkiness made the project work up really quickly and we were able to finish a hat within one session. It's much lighter than other super bulky yarns and very soft compared to other acrylics. Additionally, a lot of super bulky yarns tend to be inconsistent in their thickness, but this yarn was the same throughout the entire skein.

I don't usually use acrylic yarn but I was making a gift and the recipient wanted a "super-chunky" blanket. I found Amigo Giga easy to work with - no splitting, no knots mid-skein, very consistent in every way. It has a nice sheen and good stitch definition as well. All of this matters, because this was a cabled design (see Irish Lullaby in photo gallery). I'm pleased with the way the project turned out.
