Lanolin Wool by Dale is a 4-ply 100% wool yarn that preserves its original properties. Lanolin, which is added after the dyeing process, increases the elasticity, the thermal and insulating properties as well as the self-cleaning and water-repellent features. This is why Lanolin Wool works great for underwear, socks, garments for kids, and clothing that can be worn outside.
NB: The lanolin is gradually rinsed off of the projects with every wash, we recommend you use a specific wool detergent with lanolin to preserve it.

A unique product, friends wool is a bit softer. I really like that the lanolin has been added back to this wool. I purchased it with the intent to knit a wool diaper soaker since those must be water repellant and I thought the lanolin content would give me a head start before I lanolize the finished product. I hoped that the words "underwear" and "children's garments" in the description indicated a material that would be slightly softer than friends wool. It is more prickly than friends wool. Perhaps the word underwear was intended to be the word outerwear and the reference to children's garments is because of the water repellant (therefore mess and spill repellant) qualities. I knitted a swatch and like the fabric. I intend to knit a winter cardigan for my daughter with the cuffs, collar, hood, and hem in a softer yarn. Still a very unique product I have not seen elsewhere, and in lovely colors, so it gets 5 stars.
