You’ve seen them before! The pretty summer hats and beach bags instantly get you in a sunny, sandy, vacation mood. The incredible accessories made from raffia make their way back to the city and beach every summer (even though we firmly believe that a beautiful raffia bag can be worn all year!).
You can do all this with our Rafaella!
Rafaella is made from 100% raffia paper (raffia is originally made from palms), is durable, and recyclable. We do not recommend that the yarn comes in contact with wet or moist objects, e.g. a wet towel. Colors may transfer.
Small tip: Rafaela can also be used as a ribbon when you wrap presents. A more sustainable and prettier alternative to the classic plastic ribbons.

I got this yarn to make a beach hat. As others have said, it's a bit harder to work with than standard yarn; the pattern I'm using called for a 2.5mm hook, but that was too painful on my hands so I've switched to 5.5mm and will have to try it on as I go (the yarn says to use a 6mm hook). I'm giving it 5 stars because the quality is very good; I was expecting raffia to rip easily, but this yarn is very strong. I think it's made from genuine raffia (which is made from palm leaves) rather than paper.

I find this yarn a bit tough to crochet and used a bigger hook than recommended. But I do like the fact that it is stiff enough to stand up when making a beach bag! Other raffias I’ve used are easier to work with but the resulting bag is floppy

I like this paper yarn and was waiting for it to come back. I made wide-brim sun hats from them and gave them to my friends as presents. Everyone was very happy.

This tough to get used to at first but after a while I enjoyed it a lot! I made three straw hats out of them, approx. 4 skeins and they turned out amazing.

This is my second project. I liked working with it this time much better. The roll looks small, but goes on forever. Very sad they are discontinuing it
