We think giant yarn skeins are really fun! And here’s a MEGA skein with an incredible 400 g (14 oz) at an incredible price! Meet the Aran version of the popular Mega Ball. It’s the same great quality, just thicker. You get 700 meters (765 yards) in these skeins, so you’re sure not to run out, even on the largest projects. Knit or crochet away without having to weave in too many ends.

Mega Ball Aran is Oeko-tex certified and is spun by one of the best producers of acrylic yarns in the world. Forget about stiff and itchy acrylic! Mega Ball Aran is delicate and comfortable and feels nice and soft against your skin. The possibilities are endless; use it for sweaters, cardigans, scarves, and hats. Knit or crochet a soft, warm blanket or other interiors.

With a wide range of beautiful colors, you have plenty of opportunities to create beautiful color combinations, e.g., intricate diagram designs, muted or vivid stripes, etc.

Mega Ball Aran is practical and easy to maintain since it’s machine washable at 104 degrees F. And if you want to avoid animal fibers, then the entire line of Classic Acrylic is a great choice.

Do you prefer the same yarn in smaller skeins? Then check out our Classic Acrylic Aran. It’s the same quality, just in bags of 5 100 g (3.5 oz) skeins.

Pro tip: due to the skein's size, we recommend starting it from the outside. Starting the yarn from the center might cause more tangles as the center part might collapse on itself once you have used a little bit of yarn.

The yarn is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified (no. 2276-367). Find more information about the certification at: https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/

I really love this yarn. It is a thinner super soft yarn, which is what I prefer. It makes beautiful soft baby blankets and clothes. I have 6 balls, so far, 3 that came as a mill end special, and three I purchase at $11.50 each. These did not have a lot of knots, but those that were mill ends had several, which is to be expected. I simply went through and did a Russian join, and you cannot tell it. I also found that because of the size of the balls, when about half of the ball is used, it begins to fall apart. I simply roll it into a large ball to begin with and place it into a 5-quart ice cream bucket . The ball is releases easily and does not roll all around the floor. (Plus, that gives a good reason to buy more ice cream.)
A negative is that it is so soft that it does pile some. I have not washed a project, yet so do not know if this could be a problem. So far, I just pull it off, and go on.
I truly think you will love this yarn. I know I will buy again.

It's so very difficult to find a proper aran weight yarn with this amount of yardage (I hate weaving in ends), and is soft and easy to work with. This is a very nice heavyweight aran, almost bulky, yarn that works up beautifully. I've used a size J/6 mm hook on this. The skeins I have were pretty consistent. I only encountered one or two knots, but I wasn't really keeping track. I often find multiple knots in skeins like this, so this has been a blessing, and I'm hoping this will continue to be the case. I'm waiting for colors to come back into stock, since I want to get multiple skeins in order to received the bulk price. This is great yarn for large blankets. I purchased this in Gray 25 to try, and to make sure I like this yarn. I've read in the comments that the colors are not as bright as on the screen, but I think I can deal with that, since the selection of colors is so good.

First time ordering from hobbii and I decided to go with the Megaball 400g in pastel colors plus some cotton yarn. I'm in the US and the yarn comes from Denmark, so I was very pleasantly surprised at how quickly my order arrived. Was very excited to get my yarn, and it has already exceeded my expectations. The megaballs are huge and very good value for money, and the yarn itself is very soft and easy on the hands. I have already started a small blanket with tunisian entrelac and am so pleased with how its coming along. I will post a picture once it's finished. I also appreciated the little gifts of sweets and knitting gauges, thank you hobbii. This is now my go to site for yarn, needles and hooks and any other yarn related bits and pieces. My wish list keeps growing as I see something else I want lol. Recommending to my friends and family who knit and or crochet.

Overall, I am loving this yarn, and the couple things that aren’t 10/10 aren’t enough to detract from the value. Here’s my pro/con list:
Pro
1. You get a lot more yardage than most other bulk yarns on the market.
2. The color variety is pretty great. I do wish there were more, but who doesn’t? Everyone wants that perfect shade. The available colors will meet most needs.
3. It’s so soft. For a bulk yarn, I didn’t expect it to be as soft as it is.
4. I haven’t come across a single knot or ends tied together.
5. The price is great.
Cons
1. The pictures colors and the colors I received aren’t the same. The site colors are more vibrant than what you get in person.
2. There are some sections of the yarn that get a smidgen thinner.

I love this aran weight yarn as it is super soft compared to other acrylic yarns I've used before. I tend to stay away from acrylic, preferring natural fibres such as cotton and bamboo, but I was pleasantly surprised about the softness to it. I especially love the peacock colour yarn, as that is my absolute favourite shade of blue. I've made two jumpers using this yarn - the first one is complete and the second is still a work in progress. Although I wet blocked my first jumper, I did notice that is shrunk quite a bit and I'm not sure if this will happen again with the WIP project I have at the moment, so I'll have to wait to see, but this yarn would be be excellent for blankets and other similar projects. Highly recommend!
