Soft Bamboo Double is a super soft mix of bamboo and cotton. Add a little bit of acrylic! Bamboo is the fastest-growing plant in the world, making it an incredible material for sustainable production. It also produces more oxygen than any other plant and grows well without pesticides.
The thread consists of 70% bamboo, which makes the yarn the softest you have ever experienced and gives it a special lightweight feel. It is pleasant on the skin and is therefore also a very child-friendly yarn, which has great dimensional stability. The bamboo’s fibers are naturally silky soft and smooth – which makes the thread incredibly delicate. The texture and silk-like properties give knitted projects a beautiful fall. The 23% cotton and 7% acrylic help to hold the soft bamboo fibers together and give the yarn a good shape retention.
We absolutely recommend Soft Bamboo Double for crocheting projects e.g. baby things. The AZO certificate validates that the yarn has undergone a regime of tests and has been approved according to applicable European legislation.
Bamboo and the environment: bamboo is the fastest-growing plant in the world and is therefore a fantastic source of sustainable production.
Bamboo releases more oxygen than any other plant and grows without the use of pesticides.
Soft Bamboo comes in two thicknesses – “fine” and “double”. Soft Bamboo Fine consists of 6 x 2 fine threads and runs 180 meters (197 yds) on 50g (1.75 oz) – recommended needles 2.5 – 3.5 mm (US 1.5 - 4). Soft Bamboo Double consists of 9 x 2 fine threads and runs 115 (126 yds) meters on 50g (1.75 oz) – and we recommend needles 3.0 - 4.0 mm (US 2.5 - 6).
In other words, if you want to make a slightly ‘lighter’ knit or crocheted project, then we recommend using “fine”. However, if you wish to make a sweater that is good all year round, then we recommend using “double”.
You may experience that the strand is more loosely spun in some areas, which is a natural and unique characteristic of this charming yarn. The high bamboo contents can make the winding process a little extra challenging, and it is natural to find some felting or knots in the strand. Loosely spun yarns demand extra patience and tolerance - but the results are stunning.Find patterns for this product here: Patterns (12)

The color on this yarn is absolutely beautiful and it is incredibly soft. It definitely splits easily, but I expected it since Bamboo does that. I had to go slower and be careful with it to make sure I had all the threads on my hook in order to minimize the splitting. Something was wrong with one of the balls though and it had a thread that was constantly broken throughout the ball, causing knots. I think this was a random defect since the other two didn't have this problem. I would definitely use this yarn again, especially for lightweight tops.

This yarn is so soft and shiny! I am making a blanket for my husband with it. The only difficulty with it is that the strands make it a bit challenging not the split the yarn while knitting. The pattern I used was Ina Wendrock’s pattern from Ravelry called “Tahesha the Dragoness”. I haven’t wet blocked the square yet so it’s a bit uneven (this was also my first attempt to make something this complex). I will be adding the photo ( I don’t know how to attach it to my review on this site.)

This yarn is beautiful and soft. Only gripe would be that it splits very easily, so I wouldn’t suggest making anything too tightly knit or crocheted with this yarn. The splitting also makes projects go a little slower, but maybe I just need more experience with this style of yarn. It’s set up more like embroidery thread with lots of little strands that are easy to separate, but again, it’s buttery smooth and feels great against skin! Hope this helps!

Oķ, so this yarn is divine to handle...so soft and silky with amazing drape. I bought it to make baby wear and its certainly soft enough for that. One word of warning though, it does knit fine for a double knit. Suggest going down a couple of needle sizes and treating it closer to a 6ply than 8ply, unless you want fairly open fabric. Will certainly enjoy using the rest of my order for against the skin garments...just using a 3.5mm needle🙂

I have made several pieces with this double bamboo. It is so silky it's hard to use another yarn. It is my go to for baby but also for myself - it feels like silk against my skin. I also like the subtle hues - the light lavender and vintage rose make for a subtle elegant look along with the color Kit. The blues and greens are fabulous as well. When my colors go out of stock I am at a loss!
