The purpose of an increase is to add more stitches to your pattern. And the process is very simple: If you need to do a double crochet increase, you just crochet two double crochets in the same stitch.

NB!: Please note that this tutorial uses US terms. The same technique goes by the term ‘Treble Crochet’ (tr) in UK terms. 

How to do a double crochet increase

  1. Do one double crochet in the next stitch from your hook.
  2. Do another double crochet in the same stitch.
