Alpaca Blaze is soft as butter. A lovely mix with fine alpaca fibers that don’t itch. It works amazingly as a second strand in your projects, where it’ll give your craftsmanship volume without making it heavy. Imagine being able to knit a light, fluffy cloud into a blouse. If you want to knit a sweater on large needles, you can easily combine two or more strands of Alpaca Blaze. You could, e.g., mix colors in shades that are close to each other for a beautiful mélange look or smooth transitions by changing one strand at a time. The lovely mixture of fine alpaca fibers yields incredibly light and airy results that are hard to find with other yarn types.
Alternatively, Alpaca Blaze is also great when paired with a thin wool or alpaca, if you want your projects to have a fluffy glow.
If you want the light and fluffy volume that you’ll find in other yarns like our very popular Diablo but want to avoid mohair altogether, then Alpaca Blaze is a great substitute. It doesn’t shed like a mohair yarn and is an affordable alternative to, e.g., a kid silk.
Need inspiration for a project? Consider taking a look at our Diablo patterns. The knitting tension is the same for the two yarns, so you can use the same patterns without worry.

Pros- good price, washes well and fluffs back up nicely when dry, not too much halo or fluff, soft, lightweight, not itchy (although that’s a personal thing), blends well, perfect to use with Friends fine merino, adds extra warmth without weight, adds texture and depth to other yarns while still showing stitch definition, great alternative if you can’t tolerate mohair, subtle colours play nicely with variegated or multicoloured yarns like Dream Colour, Cookie, Butterfly, Universe, or Horizon.
Cons- can be tricky to frog if used alone (but no worse than any other fluffy yarn), does tend to shed a little when working up (again, no worse than any other halo yarn), recommended hand wash only, limited colour range because it has been discontinued. The biggest con is that it’s being discontinued! 😕

I LOVE THIS YARN!!
This is my favorite yarn ever. I'm buying more the SECOND i get the chance. I bought 3 skeins of this yarn and I wish i bought more. i made a sweater vest with two strands of this yarn and I am obsessed!! This yarn is SO soft and fluffy. It's not itchy at all like they say. I need one in every color they have. Please and i mean PLEASE, NEVER discontinue this yarn. The color is the exact same as it looks on the website. Words cannot describe how much i love this yarn. Alpaca Blaze, has the most PERFECT halo to it. It really surprised me when i frogged my piece and it was so smooth! The price is so amazing!+I got it on sale for 3.80 USD! I bought this yarn as a substitute for mohair because it can be a little pricey. I recommend this yarn! Please like if this was helpfull.

IT'S SO FLUFFY I'M GONNA DIE! :)
Seriously, I've never worked with a blend like this, and I'm not making much progress because I keep stopping just to snuggle against my work. I was really concerned it'd be itchy, but it is not -- not at all.
Have you ever been driving through the mountains at night, after a soft fog has filled the valleys? You round a curve as the moon comes out from behind a cloud and the fog almost glows. That's this yarn.
I'm using a combination of two different colors (Hazy Green and Curry) and the effect is amazing. Can't wait to try it with another weight yarn.
The only downside -- and it'd be a downside of any such yarn -- is that you need to take great care when frogging.

I decided to try this yarn as a substitute for mohair lace (I'm allergic). I'm so glad I did! I was afraid it would bother me but it doesn't. It's so soft, not scratchy or itchy. I love the colors. I'm so sad it's getting discontinued! I'll need to find another way to get this kind of yarn. I want more to use to hold in other patterns just as add-in color and texture. This knits up well. I'm holding 3-4 strands in the pattern I'm making and it looks great! I just have to be careful when I have to "un-knit" and fix mistakes, but otherwise this is the greatest fun yarn I've used in a long time!

I have been working up swatches of alpaca blaze with Dream Colour and the fabric created is so soft, The drape is also lovely. These swatches have also been very easy to frog which surprised me. Can't wait to find a few patterns to use this combination with. I have purchased quite a few of the alpaca blaze colours and they are true to the website photos.
I have also used Alpaca Blaze with Winter Glow Solid for a sweater and the drape is wonderful. It is certainly a great yarn to bring a sense of luxury to your knitting.
