A GOTS-certified and beautiful "Shetland type" wool for all you yarn lovers out there who love doing colorwork and making wooly sweaters, jackets, throws, and accessories. The yarn is called a “Shetland Type” and not Shetland wool because this wool does not come from the Shetland Islands since there are no GOTS-certified farms to be found there. However, our organic Shetland type wool looks exactly like conventional Shetland wool, has the same properties, and is even softer than the original.

The individual colors have many different shades in them that give the finished work a stunning and interesting look. Bio Shetland is perfect for both children and adults, lace knitting, and fair isle. You can also use Bio Shetland on your knitting machine or loom.

Wash your finished projects on a wool program. However, it’s a good idea to test whether your machine’s wool program is gentle enough by washing your swatch first - after measuring it first, of course! The raw wool comes from farms in South America, where they do not use mulesing. The wool is spun and dyed in Turkey.

Lovely yarn and the colours are beautiful. I ordered Aquamarin to go with Diablo and have just the cardigan for this combination. I plan on ordering another colour when I have saved up more points

I chose Aquamarine - a very nice colour although greener than the screen shows. Very fine so can be used for many different things. A very nice yarn so will continue to buy more with future points.

Love this yarn! This is probably the best item they have in the points store. It feels exactly like a Shetland type wool should. And the skeins are full size.

I wanted to know what this yarn actually looks and feels like, so I got 3 hanks in the color Forest Green. The color matches the pictures shown. At 306 yards per skein, I thought I could make something for sure with 3 hanks. I still haven't decided what to make with it though, as the yarn is thinner than fingering weight. It appears to be 2 strands thick. So, maybe double lace weight..? I've never used something so thin, and it's not the softest yarn I've ever felt, especially compared to the friends cotton, but this is organic wool, and with that considered, it really isn't as scratchy as other wool I've used. I'm glad that I got it though, because I am positive I'll think of something beautiful to make with it.

Super squishy, somewhat scratchy yarn. I have very sensitive skin and probably won't be able to wear anything made from this yarn, but it's soft enough that I'l give it a try! It is suprisingly soft for wool. It is soft enough that I would sell something made out of this wool. Going to make a beanie out of the hank I got and test it out. I picked plain white and it is prettier than I expected. Can't wait to use this yarn and see if it is as strong as it feels.
