Once you realize the pattern is written in UK terms, and switch the UK double crochet to the US single crochet, the pattern works up beautifully. I also decided to add four more rounds to make mine a bit bigger and it worked out great. Will be making many more of these.

PSA: this pattern is written in UK terms — sub single crochet for all double crochet in the pattern.

Overall, really easy to follow and made for a cute product. I added 4 more rows to both my top and bottom pieces to make the bag big enough to hold my phone but the pattern makes it easy to adjust!

Really good beginner friendly bag for those of us experimenting.
