We are very proud of our GOTS labeled Baby Cotton, which is a 100% clean, delightful cotton of outstanding quality. It is spun from the finest Egyptian cotton fibers, it is environmentally friendly produced just for Hobbii and it is vegan.
Of all the cotton types, Egyptian cotton is the most exclusive. It is famous for being extra strong, soft, and incredibly durable. The long, exclusive cotton fibers are extra luxurious and are used for the finest cotton products around the world.
The ecological cotton in Baby Cotton is handled with care and is exclusively handpicked during harvest. This means that one can harvest it at the exact right moment when the plant is mature and has had time to develop optimally.
The careful plucking furthermore leads to the fibers keeping their volume, tautness, and length. This results in one of the most delightful cotton yarns we have held in a long time.
P.S. Are you looking for a cotton yarn that isn’t dyed, you’ll find it in our Baby Cotton 15, which is completely untreated, natural, and undyed. Please be aware that the nuances can vary more than usual from batch to batch.
Baby Cotton is GOTS certified (Nr. ICEA-TX-273) which is your guarantee that the fiber has been manufactured with respect for the environment - completely without the use of chemical pesticides and artificial fertilizers etc.
About GOTS
The GOTS certification is an internationally recognized standard, which is used for the environmentally friendly and socially responsible production of ecological textiles. It stands for very high demands in all parts of the supply chain, from when the raw goods are harvested, to you having the finished product on your needles. So many yarns advertised for babies contain allergenic fibers or stuffy synthetics. Those materials have their uses, but my grandson deserves 100% real cotton (especially since he might inherit my wool allergy). Thus stuff is not just any cotton, either. It is so much softer than other cotton yarn I've bought online - I love it! Knowing it was grown without chemicals is also important to me, and I'm sure my hippie vegan girl will appreciate it too. I'm really happy I found this stuff and can't wait to post finished pics! I'm halfway through my first skein of each color I picked and have not yet found a single knot, broken thread, or frizzy spot.

This is pure magic to create with! It’s unbelievably soft and the colours are super lovely. I especially fell in love with the Eucalyptus colour. It’s a rare and sweet blend of soft blue and soft green and I have never seen anything like it.
I have been using it for toys and it works well on a tight gauge, no splitting at all. It’s so sweet of a yarn that I now want to make summer tops! If I had babies in my life, this would be my dream yarn to make blankets and clothes for them. Highly recommend.

I bought this yarn in Jade to knit a blanket for a close friend’s first baby. She just texted me the following:
“Girl, I don’t know what force shield you have sewn into the fabrics of this blanket, but every time [baby] attempts to attack it’s magical powers by puke, spit up, or blowout diaper, it remains spotless and is still fresh.
Don’t know what kind of black magic you’re messing with, but it’s working.”
10 out of 10, will buy this yarn again for the next baby!

I’m currently using this yarn on a baby blanket for my first niece, due in September ❤️
The texture is amazing as the piece is coming together—so soft, and you can tell it is durable and good quality. (I am also realizing that I’ve used not great quality yarn in the past, lesson learned!)
I’m using the Eucalyptus color and I am about to order some Lilac to complement it. I’m so excited to see how the final product turns out :)

This is such a delightful yarn. It is a pleasure to work with. It is so soft and it has a slight shine to it. It also seems to be quite resistant. Before deciding on a pattern, I worked and undid a piece several times and the thread is still in perfect condition. I was expecting it to split quite a bit and I was really pleasantly surprised not to see any problems in regards. I can’t wait to have my project finished.
