How to Choose Your Size for #EasySummerCardiKAL

Not sure which size to choose for the #EasySummerCardiKAL? This guide will help you measure yourself and pick the perfect fit. 💕

One of the most common questions we get before a Knit-Along is: “Which size should I knit?”

And we totally get it, you’re about to invest time, yarn, and love into this project, so of course you want your cardigan to fit just right.

That’s why we’ve made this little guide to help you confidently pick your size for the Mystery Knit-Along #EasySummerCardiKAL. Grab a measuring tape and let’s get started! 🧶

How the Cardigan Is Designed to Fit

The #EasySummerCardiKAL cardigan is designed with a casual, relaxed fit and positive ease, meaning it’s meant to sit loosely on your body, with a little extra room for comfort and layering.

Each kit size is based on bust circumference, but the relaxed fit allows for flexibility.

How to Measure Yourself

To choose your size, you’ll need to measure the widest part of your upper body — for most people, this will be the bust circumference.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Stand up straight and relax your shoulders.
  • Wrap a soft measuring tape around the widest part of your bust or chest.
  • Make sure the tape is snug but not tight, and level all the way around.
  • Breathe naturally — don’t hold your breath or puff out your chest.

Write down the number in cm or inches.

The Kit Sizes

There are 3 kit sizes available for the KAL:

In inches? Here you go!

  • Size 1 fits a bust circumference of approximately 31.5"–39.4", with a finished garment circumference of 41.7" and a length of 22.0".
  • Size 2 fits a bust of 39.4"–47.2", with a finished circumference of 49.2" and length of 24.4".
  • Size 3 is designed for a bust of 47.2"–55.1", with a finished circumference of 56.7" and length of 27.6".

💡 4 Tips for Choosing Your Size

  1. If you’re between sizes or prefer an oversized, relaxed look — size up!
  2. Measure your bust circumference over the type of clothes you’ll wear under your cardigan.
  3. Keep in mind the cardigan is designed with positive ease — it’s not meant to be too tight or fitted.

Once You’ve Received Your Kit… Don’t Forget to Test Your Gauge!

Before we get started on the KAL, there’s one important thing left to do — the gauge swatch. It might seem like a small step, but it’s the key to making sure your cardigan will fit just right.

Your gauge determines whether your stitches match the pattern’s sizing. Even a small difference in tension can affect the overall size of your cardigan. So once your kit arrives, take the time to knit a swatch and measure your gauge before you cast on.
