I am in love with this cotton yarn! I didn't really think cotton yarn could be soft but once I felt the Rainbow Cotton 8/4, I was pleasantly surprised! The colors are just gorgeous and pretty accurate to the picture. So far, I have only worked up a sample swatch of the blanket I am planning on making with it. I have already frogged a couple colors and it has stayed perfect for me to work it up again. The softness of this yarn make it a pleasure to work with. I fell in love with HanJan's Rainbow Splash Mosaic Crochet Blanket and due to the amount of colors, this Rainbow yarn will be just perfect because it comes in so many!! I have already made two orders(currently waiting for my 2nd) but I'm really hoping some of the out of stock colors come back soon! I just want them all!!
TL;DR: 10/10 would recommend.
This is by far the softest cotton yarn I’ve worked with!! It’s smooth to work with and doesn’t stick on the hook or to itself like other yarns I’ve tried (ahem, Lily Sugar ‘n Cream and to a lesser extent Lion Brand 24/7). The small size makes for garments that drape beautifully, and holding two (or more) strands together allows you to easily bulk up any project. I used a smaller hook size than recommended, even for doubling up, and I like the gauge that gives me better than the sizes suggested on the little skeins, but ymmv.
My projects are SO soft and comfy, I can’t stop touching them haha. And the colors are gorgeous, so I can’t stop looking at them either! I’m totally hooked, and I’m sure you will be too.
What can I say, it's great yarn! I've been using it for mosaic crochet and for knitting garments and it's really easy to work with. I haven't had any issues with knots and stuff in the yarn, though I will mention that every once in a while I'll come across a more bumpy section but it evens off quickly.
It's pretty soft for cotton yarn and the color variety is incredible. It's pretty versatile and can also hold its shape pretty well if you use smaller needles, as the recommended needle size gives it a drapey effect.
I don't usually work with thinner yarns cause it's killer for my hands, but this one flows really nicely on my needles so I've been having a much easier time that usual.
For a cotton yarn that isn't merz. it is incredibly easy to work with. I don't bother with ply cotton yarns anymore since they end up splitting and the finished project looks dull, but I've made an exception for Hobbii cotton. How they get it so soft is a mystery - there much be some magic involved. Gorgeous drape and subtle sheen that makes it look like a luxe, premium yarn. Color is rich and even the muted colors are still vibrant (rather than muddled). It looks so luxurious that I felt bad that I was using it for a dishcloth, but it is TOUGH and withstands a lot of use while still looking nice. I want to try all the different weights now!
I'm Mandy from New Zealand.
I decided to make a Korowai (Maori Cloak) for my granddaughter. This cloak is for a child so I started searching for some strong soft cotton here in NEW Zealand but couldn't find any. I had subscribed to hobbii only a few months earlier. Checked out the website and ordered 200 balls of white cotton. I took a risk in ordering the cotton but was delighted to say the least, the cotton was so soft and just what I needed. The service I received was fantastic from the start of my order to when I received it a week later. The prompt deliver of the 200 balls was fabulous. Thank you. !!!
I will be ordering again.
