If you will not settle for any less than the softest merino wool, then you will enjoy working with our Friends Extra Fine Merino.
Merino wool is a great fiber to keep you warm, helps with regulating your body temperature during wintertime, and is completely itch-free. This means, of course, that it can be also worn by people with sensitive skin, including children.
The wool for Friends Extra Fine Merino is sourced in South America and is mulesing-free. It is superwash treated and machine washable at 40°C, making it extra easy to take care of.
We encourage you to be creative with this yarn and try working it using a double thread (of the same or two different colors), but also to pair it with a wonderful mohair yarn to give it a fluffy effect.
Being extremely versatile, you can knit or crochet any kind of project with this yarn such as sweaters, cardigans, beanies, mittens, scarves, etc for adults as well as children, and any home decor that could use a cozy touch.
Do you want your next project to feel as soft as a feather? Friends Extra Fine Merino is the way to go.
Pro tip: Merino fibers are very elastic and might stretch easily, especially in larger pieces, due to the weight of the water. This is indeed normal for merino wool. We suggest not using the spin cycle of your washing machine, but instead carefully lifting the garment out of the machine, while supporting all parts, so nothing is left hanging. Then press the water out of the garment manually and without wringing. If you plan to hand wash your project, do not let it soak. We also recommend drying our Friends Extra Fine Merino flat and making sure that no part of your project is left hanging to make sure your project will not lose its shape.
The yarn is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified (no. 2276-367). Find more information about the certification at: https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/
About the Friends family
The colors of the yarns included in the Friends family are literally friends!
This means the color numbers correspond to the same color across the different Friends yarns. If you order the same color number from two different Friends yarns, they will match. Please note that there can be slight differences in the shades from fiber to fiber.
Have fun combining and matching them in all your projects.

Wonderfully soft, the colours I received match the colours on the website, which is something I always worry about. Especially if it is for a gift. I purchased black, the dark grey (Anthracite), Pumpkin and Cranberry.
I accidentally bought this thinking it was a non-superwash merino worsted weight yarn, but I that was my fault for not reading the description fully. To remedy this I'm holding two strands together and I went down a needle size -superwash tends to grow- and so far my gauge is working out ok.
One issue is the yarfing. I chose to knit from the ball, which is what I usually do -I'm lazy and don't want to rewind my yarn for every project, especially if it is for a small project- but I STRONGLY recommend rewinding this yarn.

I am new to crocheting and a returned novice knitter. This yarn was my first venture away from cheep acrylic yarn and I had such a great experience. I had a pattern in mind and when this went on sale, I thought it would be a great opportunity to try something new and I wasn't disappointed. The skein was plush, squishy, and soft. I did not know what to expect but was easy to work with and created a beautiful garment. I have yet to weave in my ends and wash/ block my piece but fingers crossed it does grow too much and remains one of my favorite knit pieces.

I was excited to purchase my first Friend's Extra Fine Moreno. I fell in love with the "Mathom Beanie" pattern by K.A.M.E. Crochet, which showcases this yarn and provides and example of the perfect matching of colors between fiber types in the Friends yarn collection. The wool itself is light and super soft, but sturdy. The colors are so rich, the photos do not do them justice, honestly. In addition, I think that the color matching between fibers has encouraged fiber artists to explore combinations of fibers and colors in their pieces.

I have never worked with extra fine merino so I didn’t know what to expect. Especially as it is wool which I often find scratchy. It is the softest wool with no scratchiness and is super squishy. I would never guess it’s wool. made a short sleeve cardigan for a friend and I’m obsessed with this yarn. It’s easy to work with and is just luxurious. I can’t wait to get more and make something for myself! I’ll post a pic of the cardigan soon but I need to remember the pattern I used so I can add it to the post.

This yarn is sooooo soft! It might be my favorite yarn that I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried a lot of yarn. I got it for a project using some other types of yarn in the Friends line, and the color matching from yarn to yarn is incredible. It makes it so easy to incorporate different textures into my project without having to worry about mismatched colors. I highly recommend trying this yarn out, it really is the softest yarn I’ve ever tried and I’m absolutely in love with it!
