Our Friends Kid Silk is a magnificent combination of kid mohair, silk, and a tiny bit of wool.
The kid mohair fibers come from the young angora goats, making it the finest quality of mohair there is. Hence, the yarn appears thin, lightweight, uniform, shiny, fluffy, and totally free of impurities.
Thanks to these characteristics, projects created with this yarn will not wrinkle or stretch and will be able to keep you warm during the wintertime while being lightweight.
Friends Kid Silk is produced in Italy and comes in a great variety of lively and neutral colors. You can work with a single thread for a more airy effect, or you can use multiple threads to achieve a fuller look. Friends Kid Silk is extremely versatile and can, of course, also be paired with another yarn to add softness and fluff to your project. The result will be definitely outstanding and elegant.
Need some inspiration for your next project? We recommend using our Friends Kid Silk for featherweight shawls, shrugs, and scarves, as well as hats, pullovers, and cardigans.
Add a touch of luxury to your creations with this lovely mohair yarn.
About the Friends family
The colors of the yarns included in the Friends family are literally friends!
This means the color numbers correspond to the same color across the different Friends yarns. If you order the same color number from two different Friends yarns, they will match. Please note that there can be slight differences in the shades from fiber to fiber.
Have fun combining and matching them in all your projects.

Kid Silk was my first adventure in mohair, and I paired it with the extra fine merino in the same color way. I was so pleased to see that the colors not only matched each other as was promised with the friends line, but also that they were true to what I saw on the computer screen. I think the Friends line is a wonderful, reliable staple with the amount of colors available across the many fibers. I could review all of these this positively, but the reason I really like the kid silk is that it can truly transform your work. It takes the look of your finished object from matte which is still beautiful to something with a bit more variety and shine in the strands. And that's just using the same color. You can create some beautiful fabrics by mixing I imagine, so I definitely get it! I loved using kid silk as my first exploration of mohair. It's opening up a whole new world for me. Also - yes, it's super soft. I worked with (79) open sea, and have the (37) rosewood in the wings.

I'm a beginner and already addicted to knitting with Friends Kid Silk's amazing combination of natural silk, mohair and wool. It works up like butter and is super soft as well as non itchy. I'm using double fibers on size 4.5mm needles, in the round. Just the right tension for the light and airy vibe I'm aiming for with this jumper project. I've bought close to 40 balls already in contrasting and complimentary colors. Pairing bright pink with bright orange, French Blue with a darker blue, aqua and emerald! Ribbing is one color and the body/arms in the other! It calms my nerves and I can't smoke as much! X

I thought I'd bought under 40 of this amazing super glorious Friends Kid Silk year. It's a truly glorious mix of natural fibers. But I just did the math and the total ball count is officially 62 this month! Oye. HaHa. I'm a beginner using a variety of color ways blending two threads in one stitch. It's stunning so far. Also using contrasting colors for ribbing and main body/sleeves. SO MUCH FUN! Plus calming & quite relaxing! Thanks Hobbi! New fan here! X

I actually purchased a faulty batch of this item, but it was just a non-standard color. There was nothing wrong with it. I used this along with worsted friends wool for the Bobbie sweater and it turned out great! The kid silk adds a nice touch of luxury to an otherwise plain sweater. It’s extremely soft and adds a beautiful halo to the finished product. I wish I could afford to use this with every project!

Really enjoyed working with Friends Kid Silk. I used a single strand to make a shawl (To The Stars, available on Hobbii). It worked up fast and felt great. Even though it was so light and lacey, it does not break and the final product is light with a balance of warmth due to the mohair/silk/wool blend. Love the overall texture. I am sure it would be great held together with something else as well.
