Fie – Beginners Shawl

Soft shawl with fringe

As the name indicates, this shawl is a project for a beginner, or for those of you who want a quick and easy project on the needles.

The shawl is knitted in our soft yarn Diablo Multi, which makes the shawl nice and airy.

The shawl is knitted back and forth in garter stitch and finished with a fringe.

Enjoy!

Sara

Simple and easy to follow pattern. The yarn is super soft and fun to work with.

Lisa

This is a great beginner project. The yarn is soft and lovely to work with, but my gauge was off by 2 stitches and 4 skeins of yarn was not enough to finish 140 stitches. I only got to 138 stitches with 4 entire skeins and I had nothing left over for the fringe. Note that the finished size is fine for a scarf to wear around your neck or a small shawl. The model in the photo is slim and tiny build so it looks fine on her as the pattern is written. I recommend getting 5 skeins of yarn so you have enough for the fringe if you make it the same size as the pattern recommends. For an average size or larger person I recommend using 6 skeins of yarn to have enough for additional rows plus fringe, because otherwise it is a very small shawl. The pattern is well written, but for an absolute beginner knitter who has never done yarn-overs I recommend first doing yarn-over practice with wool yarn because I found it challenging to figure out yarn-overs with fuzzy mohair.
