The pattern is definitely not beginner friendly, it should be classified easy not beginner. I find some of the reviews unfair, the pattern is clearly written for easy but not for a beginner.

Yes, what they don’t tell you is that once you put the front on a holder, you are then knitting stockinette stitch in rows; your first row is a purl, your 2nd is a knit ( where you decrease) etc etc. As this is a beginner pattern it could have been clearer instructions.
