The Soft Shell Lovey Blanket is a great, giftable project for a special little one!

This pattern is perfect for intermediate crocheters familiar with basic crochet stitches (hdc, dc, sc, ch), decreases (dc5tog), and foundation crochet (fdhc).

The main blanket uses the interlocking shell stitch pattern which is a two row repeat and works up quickly, and you can customize the Soft Shell Lovey Blanket by increasing or decreasing the foundation half double crochet by a multiple of 6 + 1 (example: fhdc for 120 stitches, then add 1 more fhdc stitch for a total of 121 stitches).

You can get the best visual contrast using a main color and contrast color where one color is much darker than the other - this makes the shells really pop!
