I like this pattern, but working with 3 colours at the same time while 5 cats are helping to keep them from knotting up can be a challenge. It's been a long time since I last knitted with multiple colours. Thank you for this free pattern of encouragement.
The key to make sure you leave the loops in the back loose enough not to pull, but tight enough not to entangle with any hair clips you may wear. I crossed the yarns every 2-3 stitches. This resulted in a nice thick hat as most of the areas are now double or even triple layered. I used different sheds of brown (beige, middle brown and dark brown) to make it look like tiger spots.

Adorable hat! The pattern is charted and it's probably easier if you've worked colorwork before--particularly with more than two colors. You could knit the hat with three colors, or only two colors and then duplicate stitch the third color.
