Alpaca Silk is an extraordinarily fabulous yarn from Peru. It consists of 70% alpaca and 30% silk, a match made in heaven if you ask us.

The silky-smooth silk adds a slightly shiny look to the yarn and combined with the long, warm alpaca-fibers, it makes the yarn extra durable. Silk Alpaca is a dream to wear and it’s perfect for warm and soft knitting for all kinds of clothing such as shawls, hats, and other accessories. This lightweight yarn adds a beautiful drape to any project. You can also combine the yarn with other yarns by adding e.g. a thread of Kid Silk into your work thus making your work extra lightweight.

Alpaca Silk is a fabulous luxury on your needles, so enjoy it!

NB! As you may know from many other types of textiles, yarn may contain excess color. The repeated rubbing from working with the yarn can, unfortunately, result in color transferring from some darker colors and black. But that doesn’t mean that you can't knit a striped sweater. We recommend that you hand wash Alpaca Silk separately.

The yarn is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified (no. 2476-419). Find more information about the certification at https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/

Kerry

Was gifted this yarn in Petronia City and made the Dragon Flight shawl by Elizabeth Ravenwood, available on Ravelry. Cannot fault it. Frogs easily without fluffing up, handles well, stitch definition is perfect. Soft and tactile to work with, just a scrummy feel in the hands. Finished fabric lightweight with a beautiful gentle drape. The silk gives it a soft sheen. Like being hugged by a cloud. I can’t comment on washing and drying, but since the shawl took a lot of time and effort and has beading, I’ll be hand washing only. Honestly, this yarn deserves more love. I have my eye on the Arctic Lichen for another shawl. If only I had another lifetime and unlimited funds 😉

Softest yarn ever. Easy to knit. The silk component implies the thread isn't elastic, so care for some loose stitches if you wish to integrate irish designs, for example.
As I wanted to felt it (yes yes), I've thrown my double-sided 10 cm (4 in) square into normal wash at least 5 times. Wow. It came out fluffy and dense as I hoped. This will certainly be wind-proof, thus the felting! Shrinking ratio about 2/3 of the original. My ultimate goal is to knit and then felt ear-muffs, whence I find the right design, as Quebec has very cold winds in winter.

My new FAVORITE combo using Alpaca Silk and Friends Kid Silk Mohair. I have been making cowls and fingerless mitts for my friends in NY and now their friends friends want a pair..
The Alpaca is a dream to work with so smooth on the needles and your hands, unbelievably soft and the recipient is super happy especially if they have a wool allergy no itchy with this yarn..
Love it so much have made 3 orders

I absolutely LOVE this yarn. It is incredibly soft, and comes out really beautifully without looking too overly fuzzy. I’m making a blanket with it and it’s very moveable and pliable, not stiff at all! After using this yarn, I can’t go back to the other materials I was using. It’s spoiled me! I wish I could add a photo so you could see just how beautiful it looks when woven.

JULIA

I absolutely LOVE this yarn!!! The quality of it is akin to to much more expensive hand-spun hand-dyed yarns of the same composition, but for a fraction of the price. It is light, soft, buttery, warm, and a dream to work with! I have made a crochet sweater a knit scarf with this yarn and plan to make many more projects. This has to be one of my favorite yarns hobbii offers so far.
