Nice and thick sock yarn in the colors of the rainbow. Some of the colors come from our cotton Rainbow line. Rainbow Sock Wool is spun from a blend of wool and polyamide, and the thick yarn is perfect for warm and durable socks. We recommend a 4 mm needle (US 6) for this chunky sock yarn - which is ideal if you want to try your hand at knitting your very first pair of socks.

Rainbow Sock Wool is machine washable. The yarn comes in 40 beautiful colors, so you have plenty of options if you want to make striped socks or maybe add a motif or pattern. If you’d rather knit classic socks, you should use Rainbow Sock Wool 4-ply instead - it comes in the exact same colors.

You will need two skeins to make a pair of socks up to a EUR 43.

Color matches from our Rainbow Cotton line can be found below.

Please note: The color matches will never be 100% accurate.

Jacqueline

I really love this yarn, it’s a dream to knit with and very squishy.
The only complaint I have is that I had a couple sections of wool that hadn’t been spun properly and was very rough and uneven And I had to cut them out. This definitely wouldn’t stop me from buying this wool again.

Claire

Really lovely yarn! I got the Gray, Dark Green and Dark Mint colours, and they were all so beautiful! This yarn looks and feels a bit more like a rustic type yarn, but is still really soft! I have made a pair of socks so far and I was very happy with how the yarn worked up!

Katie

Right out of the bag, I was already impressed with the richness of the colours. Without missing any softness, the Dark Grey actually looked and felt more rustic than superwash wools usually do, which I really love! I enjoyed knitting with it and recommend it :)

Hannah

I'm so sad this is being discontinued. I bought to knit socks but knit a Japanese knot bag of my own design for a gift and I loved knitting it! Bought more even though pastels will not suit who I bought the sock colors for but I'll like them.

Savannah

This is a very lovely wool to work with! I was worried that it would be super scratchy while working with it, but it's really soft! And the deep color saturation is amazing to work with too!
