Greenland Blanket

The most beautiful blanket that reminds one of the scenery of Greenland.

The blanket is knitted in Dream Color which results in an absolutely amazing color play that makes you think of the scenery of Greenland.

The pattern consists of 16 knit stitches and 16 purl stitches that are repeated around.

The blanket is easy to knit, but it consists of a lot of stitches. It weighs approximately 2.2 pounds (1 kg) when it is finished, so it is a large and heavy blanket – the result, however, is amazing and worth every stitch.

It is knitted back and forth on circular needles.

Update on my previous review: It is SO much easier to knit the double strand and US size 8 circular needle! The blanket is getting big gradually. I have had to put it aside to knit my Christmas presents since my new huge order from Hobbii arrived today. I LOVE HOBBII!!

This is a gorgeous and very easy to knit pattern, though I did "cheat" and knit with a different store brand yarn from another store in the same weight! I knit this on US9 circulars and did so in between lectures and during study breaks!

Coshi

I made it and it's very pretty! When watching a movie, I snuggle with this blanket.

I started this blanket in Dream Color on a very long circular needles as the pattern calls for. I found it to be a bit hard to knit with - the yarn split easily and it is very fine (thin) yarn - not a bad thing, just hard for me to deal with 42" circulars, small, diameter pointy needles and so many stitches! And that is the reason I docked it by one star. SO, I decided to use a double strand of Dream Color, and use the pattern exactly as written, but with a US size 8 needle. I knew it would be bigger, heavier, but that is fine. It was easier to knit, easier to see, doesn't split as easily because of the gauge, and I'm happily knitting away. Oh, I first used long tail cast on (VERY long tail to start) , but decided that the knitted-on cast on method might look better and be stronger and easier for that first difficult row. It was! And now I'm happily knitting this blanked. I will post again when complete and add the fifth star to it too.
