Unlike the bronze one with the paste diamond in the middle, this one is a solid metal, not just the very light-weight plastic that's painted bronze and meant to give you the illusion of metal. I put mine on a satin cord along with my interchangeable knitting needle key so I don't have to go searching for either one at the end of a project. I give these as gifts to my yarn-loving friends.

This cutter doesn't give you a very clean cut for yarn unless you twist the yarn up well and cut it quickly, but it cuts thread very well. I like the idea that it makes a ragged yarn edge; it makes weaving ends a little easier; I often felt yarn ends together so I dislike a clean yarn cut.

I was very surprised how well this yarn cutter worked on my cotton yarn. The acrylic yarn would have to be tight when cutting it. I have mine on a leather string and have it around my neck when making small projects. It looks very stylish *wink*
